This wine, also known as Frontebosco Etna Bianco DOC Superiore, is made from 100% Carricante grapes, a native variety of the region. The vineyards are located on the eastern slope of Etna, in an area characterized by volcanic soil that gives the wine a unique minerality. The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring a careful selection of the finest bunches. After harvesting, the grapes undergo a six-hour cold maceration, followed by gentle pressing with a pneumatic press. The resulting must is cold-clarified and fermented (10% in stainless steel and 90% in 500-liter French oak tonneaux). The wine then ages on its fine lees for eight months, acquiring complexity and structure. Before being released for sale, the wine ages in bottle for at least 10 months. The result is a highly elegant white wine, with an alcohol content of 12.5%. Maugeri Contrada Volpare Etna Bianco Superiore pairs perfectly with fish, vegetables, white meats, and shellfish, enhancing the flavors with its freshness and minerality. The ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 10°C, to fully appreciate its organoleptic characteristics. This wine embodies the essence of Sicily, combining tradition and innovation in a product of the highest quality. Description

Maugeri Contrada Volpare Etna Bianco Superiore is a highly prized Sicilian wine, produced in the renowned Etna area.

Maugeri

Renato is the boy from the 60s who knows every corner of the Estate, alongside him in every choice are his daughters Carla, Michela and Paola. Three professionals who express the deepest relationship between the vocation of a territory and family values related to environmental and social sustainability in wine. The currents blowing from the Ionian Sea enhance the grapes that remain ventilated and healthy, fresh and dry. In summer, the dance of the vines is a delicate perpetual motion to be observed in the shade of century-old palm trees. The exchange with the sea breezes also benefits the dense spontaneous vegetation, a rich endemic biodiversity that inhabits our rows. The turquoise line of the sea borders this vineyard and dominates its visual exploration. The vineyard that overlooks Etna is the highest part of our Estate. The volcano here expresses itself with a white puff that lingers on the peaks: sometimes snow, sometimes smoke. On one side the oak grove and on the other the profile of the craters, it is the place where to spot the first signs of life of the volcano in the morning. Indigenous vines, no intervention and the very precise choice to follow the vocation of this piece of land, the "white". This in summary is the oenological philosophy of Maugeri. The pure Carricante that finds its place of choice in the East, recognized with the mention Etna Bianco Superiore, the Nerello Mascalese with which an elegant rosé is produced and the Catarratto a fresh and fragrant white.
