Description

Nicosia Etna Rosso Contrada Monte Gorna is a highly prized Sicilian wine, produced with grapes from the southeastern slopes of Etna. This Etna Rosso DOC is composed of 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio , two native grape varieties that give the wine a complex structure and distinctive character. The alcohol content is 13%, making it a balanced and pleasant wine on the palate. The grapes are grown organically, respecting the environment and ensuring a high-quality product. Etna's volcanic soil gives the wine a unique minerality, which is reflected in its sensory profile. Fermentation takes place for approximately 10-15 days at a controlled temperature (24-26°C), primarily in stainless steel. Subsequently, 50% of the wine ages for 5-6 months in barriques and for another 3-4 months in large barrels. The refinement is completed by a further maturation of at least 6 months in the bottle, which allows the wine to fully develop its characteristics. Nicosia Etna Rosso Contrada Monte Gorna is excellent paired with cured meats and semi-mature cheeses, savory pasta dishes, and roasted and grilled meats. The ideal serving temperature is between 14 and 18°C, to best appreciate its aromatic and flavorful nuances. This wine represents the essence of Etna viticulture, with a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.

Nicosia

Today, Cantine Nicosia is a dynamic, modern, and efficient company, capable of looking towards the future while fully respecting tradition. At its helm, Carmelo Nicosia is assisted by his two sons, Francesco and Graziano, a close-knit team of young collaborators, and last but not least, the winemaker Maria Carella, the authentic interpreter of the company's production philosophy. Cantine Nicosia favors the most valuable native grape varieties and the international varieties that have best adapted to Sicily, promoting the territory while fully respecting the environment and enhancing the raw material with a careful selection of grapes and constant attention to work in the cellar. A long journey towards excellence, to produce wines worthy of representing, in Italy and the world, the best Sicilian winemaking tradition. Producing good and healthy wines, respecting the environment: Nicosia has fully embraced the cause of organic and sustainability, to combine environmental protection and food safety, with the aim of bringing to consumers' tables a "zero impact" wine. Thanks to precision viticulture techniques, satellite mapping of vineyards, biotechnologies, and the adoption of a protocol based on the most advanced principles of sustainability, the company has managed to eliminate the use of agrochemicals and fertilizers.
