Description

Nicosia Etna Rosso Contrada Monte San Nicolò is a highly prized Sicilian wine, produced exclusively with Nerello Mascalese grapes grown on the southeastern slopes of Etna. This DOC red wine embodies the essence of Etna viticulture, with an alcohol content of 13%. The grapes are grown according to rigorous organic criteria, respecting the environment and the local biodiversity. The volcanic soil lends the wine a unique minerality, enhanced by fermentation lasting approximately 10-15 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26°C, primarily in stainless steel. Fifty percent of the wine then ages for 5-6 months in barriques and another 3-4 months in large barrels, completing the refinement with at least 6 months of bottle aging. This process gives Nicosia Etna Rosso a complexity and depth of flavors that make it ideal for pairing with cured meats and semi-mature cheeses, savory pasta dishes, and roast and grilled meats. The recommended serving temperature is between 14 and 18°C, to best enhance its organoleptic characteristics. Nicosia Etna Rosso Contrada Monte San Nicolò is a wine that recounts the history and tradition of Sicilian viticulture, offering a unique and unforgettable sensory experience.

Nicosia

Today, Cantine Nicosia is a dynamic, modern, and efficient company, capable of looking towards the future while fully respecting tradition. At its helm, Carmelo Nicosia is assisted by his two sons, Francesco and Graziano, a close-knit team of young collaborators, and last but not least, the winemaker Maria Carella, the authentic interpreter of the company's production philosophy. Cantine Nicosia favors the most valuable native grape varieties and the international varieties that have best adapted to Sicily, promoting the territory while fully respecting the environment and enhancing the raw material with a careful selection of grapes and constant attention to work in the cellar. A long journey towards excellence, to produce wines worthy of representing, in Italy and the world, the best Sicilian winemaking tradition. Producing good and healthy wines, respecting the environment: Nicosia has fully embraced the cause of organic and sustainability, to combine environmental protection and food safety, with the aim of bringing to consumers' tables a "zero impact" wine. Thanks to precision viticulture techniques, satellite mapping of vineyards, biotechnologies, and the adoption of a protocol based on the most advanced principles of sustainability, the company has managed to eliminate the use of agrochemicals and fertilizers.
