Description

Azienda Agricola Millami presents Il Folle Terre Siciliane IGT, a Sicilian red wine made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes. This wine hails from the historic city of Marsala, located in the beautiful region of Sicily, Italy. Il Folle is a handcrafted wine, vinified in steel with whole-cluster carbonic maceration for 11 days. Fermentation is spontaneous, thanks to the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the grapes. Pressing takes place with a vertical hydraulic press, a traditional method that allows us to extract the best from the grapes. The wine is aged on the fine lees for nine months in steel, followed by an additional three months in the bottle, to ensure optimal maturation and a complex aromatic profile. The soil on which the vines grow is medium-textured clayey, giving the wine a unique structure and minerality. Il Folle is a versatile wine, ideal for pairing with both white and red meats, and should be served between 14 and 18°C.

Azienda Agricola Millami

The Millami Agricultural Company was founded in Marsala, at the western tip of Sicily, in the early 1950s. The vineyard is the result of the work of the grandparents of the current owner, Grandfather Diego Maggio and Grandfather Michele Morsello Angileri, who took care of converting their respective agricultural companies specialized in wheat cultivation, into wine companies, forever and radically changing the panorama of Sicilian wine. With an extension of about 12 hectares of vineyard, the company stands out for the variety of grapes grown and for the location of the various plots in different geographical areas of the Marsalese countryside, for a total of as many as eight different plots for as many terroirs and nine different grape varieties. It ranges from white berry vines (Catarratto, Grillo, Inzolia, Zibibbo), to red berry ones (Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Nero d'Avola and Merlot) and grey berry (Pinot Grigio). The family soul of the company reflects an indissoluble bond to Sicilian culture and traditions, which is expressed daily through respect for biodiversity and its fauna, and through a responsible and sustainable transition towards an organic farming regime.
