Description

Feudo Maccari Family and Friends Terre Siciliane IGP is a Sicilian white wine made with 100% Grillo grapes from the Noto area of Sicily, Italy. This wine stands out for its 14.5% alcohol content and its certified organic status. The vines grow on a calcareous-sandy soil, giving the wine a distinctive minerality. Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled temperature, with part of the must fermenting in ovoid concrete containers and the other part in small barrels for a period of approximately 20 days. Maturation continues for at least 6 months, again in a combination of ovoid concrete containers and small barrels, followed by bottle aging for at least another 6 months. This process gives the wine remarkable complexity and structure. Feudo Maccari Family and Friends is ideal with seafood gratin dishes, crispy octopus, grilled fish, delicate risottos, and roasted white meats. It pairs perfectly with first courses, fish, shellfish, and white meats. The recommended serving temperature is between 8 and 10°C, to best enhance its organoleptic characteristics.

Feudo Maccari

Feudo Maccari extends for almost 265 hectares, of which 60 are vineyards divided into three groups on the hills caressed all day by the sea breeze. The heart is Maccari, accounting for over 70% of the Feudo, where the vineyards that have already made about thirty harvests are always under the sun all day. Not far away is the other business body, a district particularly suited for viticulture because the conformation of the land retains moisture, a decisive factor in a drought-ridden territory where Greeks, Romans, and Arabs have always had to deal with the lack of water. Finally, the highest point of the company, a terrace overlooking the Ionian Sea and the natural oasis of Vendìcari, the area of the Gerbi district and the Timponazzo district where the different types of soil, black and sandy or white limestone, the differences in height and exposure, everything seems created on purpose to favor the birth of complex wines and allow to rebalance the different vegetative behavior of the plants. Not far away, an area particularly suited for viticulture because the formation of the land retains moisture, a decisive factor in a very arid area where Greeks, Romans, and Arabs have struggled with a severe lack of water. The appearance of the soft hills of Feudo Maccari, the white limestone soil, the breezes that arise from the meeting of two seas, create the best conditions for successfully growing the vines and giving life to great wines.
