Description
Abraxas
Abraxas has its roots in the ancient agricultural tradition of the island of Pantelleria, the black pearl of the Mediterranean and a privileged territory for the production of unique and exclusive wines, such as Passito. Among the most appreciated wineries on the island, as evidenced by the numerous awards obtained at national and international level, Abraxas today shines again thanks to the commitment of the Scudieri family, who with the "Tenute Scudieri" project want to enhance and promote the territorial and gastronomic excellences of Sicily and the whole national territory, with a vision oriented towards respect for agricultural traditions, the recovery and conservation of native crops and livestock, and environmental sustainability. The Abraxas winery is the highest on the island and is located at about 600 meters above sea level, nestled on the slopes of Montagna Grande and built according to the ancient Pantelleria wine tradition to enhance the quality of our wines and ensure an effective maturation process. In the over 30 hectares of vineyards, which represent the largest area among the wineries residing on the island of Pantelleria, native and allochthonous vines are distributed at different heights. From the zibibbo vineyard (or Moscato d’Alessandria) located in Bukkuram, a stone's throw from the sea and in the part of the island that overlooks Africa, to the heights of Vipera and Randazzo, our wines are an expression of the purest and most authentic soul of the island of Pantelleria. In Bukkuram, the Zibibbo vine is cultivated, using the classic "alberello pantesco" technique. On the heights of Vipera and Randazzo, at about 600 meters above sea level, where our winery is located, vines with a great history are grown, which on the slopes of Montagna Grande that slope towards the sea find their own exaltation: Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Sirah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Carignano, Malbec, Mondese, Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Merlot and Viognier. From the cultivation of the vines, to the vinification and bottling: the entire process takes place on the island of Pantelleria.
