Description

Tenute dei Ciclopi Etna Rosso is a Sicilian wine of great character, produced under the prestigious Etna Rosso DOC appellation. This wine is made from 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio grapes, grown on the northern slopes of Etna. Its alcohol content is 13.5%. The volcanic soil gives the wine a unique minerality, while the vinification takes place on the skins, with fermentation in open vats and eight days of contact with the skins. The yeasts used are carefully selected to ensure optimal fermentation. After fermentation, the wine ages for a year in stainless steel and partly in wood, with a light filtration before bottling. This process gives the wine a complex structure and a rich aromatic bouquet. Tenute dei Ciclopi Etna Rosso is ideal with red meats and aged cheeses, enhancing the intense flavors of these dishes. The recommended serving temperature is between 14 and 18°C, to best appreciate its organoleptic characteristics.

Tenute dei Ciclopi

We were born on Etna. Like many children of this island, life has taken us far away. The journey, for those who leave, is a challenge. It's a way to find oneself, crossing different places and meeting different people. But it's along the way that the desire to reclaim one's roots, to return home, arises. The great theme of nòstos, which permeates and unites all the peoples of Magna Graecia. That's why we decided to rediscover our origins, in a difficult and at the same time generous land that has welcomed all the peoples crossing the Mediterranean for millennia. We returned to the Volcano to reclaim the smells, tastes, and sensations of our childhood and their dreamlike dimension. We decided to slowly recover, with the slowness of the ancient gestures of those who love their land, some historic vineyards, escaped from the various volcanic eruptions that many times, over time, have swept away every sign of man. We chose to take care of old vines, even on their own roots, between Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, at altitudes that have never been reached by phylloxera, recovering the Sicilian bush vine and using the traditional chestnut poles from our woods.
