"Etna rises through layers of increasingly cold air, higher than the Dolomites; every night this air slides along the black dust down to the vineyards and subjects them to a shock that first paralyzes them, then makes them distill altered, distorted sugars and scents, deviated from what would come from the normal metabolism of a Sicilian plant. It is an advantage to make wine in this place that betrays common meteorology and lives enclosed in climatic strangeness, it is a virgin and desert place where powerful images reign that come out of nameless forces.
